About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs a wide range of clearly defined laboratory analyses at an acceptable level of competency and in a timely manner. Analyses involve independent judgment delegated by the supervisor and appropriate to the employee’s expertise. The employee performs routine procedures carefully using predetermined criteria and reports unusual conditions to the supervisor. The role requires professional communication with patients, co-workers, and physicians; efficient and accurate assistance with or execution of physician orders, including documentation; and knowledge of clinic and community resources that support care for patients and their families. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position, scheduled for 80 hours biweekly. Work is primarily on day shift, with start times typically at 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM, or 9:00 AM and corresponding end times after an eight-hour workday. Occasional coverage of evening, overnight, weekend, holiday, or other staffing vacancies may be required. Off-shift assignments are expected to be infrequent and based on operational need. The employee must attend the work site as scheduled, participate in rotational call, and may work limited unscheduled hours or change shifts as workload or staffing needs require. Hourly compensation is $27.19–$34.80 for MLT candidates and $31.43–$42.32 for MLS candidates. Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations. Lake Region Healthcare offers medical and dental coverage, HSA and FSA plans, a 401(k), EAP, life and disability coverage, voluntary accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity coverage, pet insurance, identity theft protection, and legal services. For new employees, coverage for most plans begins on the first of the month following a 30-day waiting period.
