About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to work in the laboratory at IU North in Carmel, Indiana. The role is described as a full-time night-shift position, although the introductory text refers to a day shift. Candidates are considered based on education, certification, experience, and qualifications. The laboratory performs testing on patient specimens and provides information used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The MLS performs tests, maintains performance records, uses independent judgment to produce acceptable results within quality-control standards, and may participate in research and development. The MLS may serve as a resource for staff, instruct students and laboratory or non-laboratory staff, and help develop or modify procedures. The MLT assists with laboratory testing and, under direction, may provide information supporting diagnosis and treatment. The MLT helps maintain performance records and may assist with procedure development or modification. Both roles perform work according to standard operating procedures and may take on additional responsibilities assigned by management or the laboratory director. IU Health describes itself as Indiana’s most comprehensive health system. Its laboratories operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and perform more than 19 million tests annually. The organization also highlights opportunities for professional growth, training, and development.
