Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) II
About The Position
Missouri Baptist Medical Center is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) II to join its laboratory team as a Generalist. This is an excellent opportunity for a certified laboratory professional who enjoys working in a collaborative hospital environment and performing a broad range of laboratory testing. The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II (REG) performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good laboratory practice.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related laboratory science field
- MLT (ASCP), AMT, or equivalent certification preferred/required
- Strong generalist laboratory skills and commitment to quality patient care
- Ability to perform testing across multiple laboratory disciplines in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Associate's Degree - Physical/Life Science/related
- ASCP, AMT,AAB or equiv or elig

Responsibilities
- Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
- Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
- Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department.
- Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.
- Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
