About The Position

We are seeking qualified and experienced individuals to join our team and grow their laboratory careers. The Cincinnati Laboratory has a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician, Microbiology opening. This role requires experience with progressive responsibility in medical microbiology within a large hospital or reference laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong microbiology/technical background and excellent communication skills. Experience with Beckman, Abbott, or Siemens instrumentation is preferred. This position demands critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently. The employee will demonstrate efficient laboratory testing techniques, quality control, and maintain acceptable turn-around-time and compliance. Effective communication in English is essential for training, responding to inquiries, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Associate/Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Prior clinical laboratory experience required
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English for training, responding to inquiries and reporting purposes.
  • Must be able to demonstrate efficient laboratory testing techniques, and quality control while maintaining acceptable turn-around-time and compliance.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year - Microbiology experience preferred.
  • Experience in high volume testing a plus.
  • Major lab instrument familiarity (Beckman, Abbott, Siemens), a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing as assigned.
  • Perform required Quality Control testing.
  • Perform Proficiency Testing when assigned.
  • Review Patient Reports as testing occurs to perform repeat analysis if required.
  • Monitor supply inventories to assure they are adequate for the workload.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance as required.
  • Review and assist in updating of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report concerns to Laboratory Management on the status of testing as required.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
