About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technician to join our microbiology team at Ascension St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN. This is a PRN (as needed) position with variable start and end times, requiring availability to cover 1st shift weekends and potentially other shifts if needed. The role involves performing essential clinical laboratory science functions in a high-volume, production-based environment.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
Proficient with computers.
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

1 year or more clinical microbiology MLT experience.
1 year or more microbiology plate reading experience.
ASCP or AMT certification.
Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement.

Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
