About The Position

Mobile Health Team Inc. is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment in Carbondale, IL. This position involves supporting and communicating laboratory initiatives, collecting and processing specimens, evaluating and solving problems related to specimen collection and processing, participating in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures, performing complex laboratory procedures, analyzing quality control data, answering inquiries regarding test results, and reviewing instrument indicators. The role also requires maintaining self-competency in laboratory skills.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or Associates Degree for grandfathered personnel)
  • New MT Graduate must pass certification exam within 6 months of employment start date
  • Must have CLS or MT (ASCP) or equivalent
  • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification during employment
  • Effective team skills including interaction, support, and respect are required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Willingness to participate in continuing education and training programs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and reliability
  • Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.
  • Drug screen and background check (facility required)

Responsibilities

  • Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies.
  • Collects, Processes and Receives specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, body fluid) to be analyzed in all departments of the clinical laboratory.
  • Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens of analysis of all age ranges.
  • Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of personnel, equipment, cost and establishment of reference intervals; writes and revises technical procedures.
  • Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles.
  • Analyzes quality control data, makes judgments concerning results and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
  • Answers inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results.
  • Reviews all instrument indicators and temperature monitors for laboratory departments.
  • Responsible for maintaining self-competency in laboratory skills.
