About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of laboratory testing. The role follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met. The scientist serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel, collaborates with departments across the enterprise, and exercises critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Other related duties may be assigned. The clinic includes family medicine, pediatric, and acute care departments and has a large laboratory. The work shift varies, and the position is scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

Associate degree in Laboratory Science.
Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences.
National certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, such as ASCP, or eligibility for registry.
Registry-eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
For work in North Dakota, a license or provisional license from the North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice is required.
Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to applicable state requirements for licenses and certifications.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
