About The Position

Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. Demonstrates critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Medical Lab Technician: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
  • Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible.
  • Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
  • Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Laboratory Scientist: Bachelor’s degree in biology or other related field that includes 30 combined semester hours of biological science and chemistry required.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist: Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
  • Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.

  • Demonstrated lab experience, including but not limited to college laboratory experience preferred.
