Join our team as a PRN, Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) in Pittsburg, TX. UT Health Pittsburg is equipped with 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, a sleep lab, swing bed care, 16 physician offices, and a UT Health East Texas Olympic Center fitness facility.

Requirements

Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science.
OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies or a chemical, physical or biological science associates degree.
ASCP or equivalent.
Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Responsibilities

Functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
Performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
Participate in the quality assurance and performance improvement tasks, new employee training and proficiency testing as assigned.
