About The Position

This Medical Laboratory Scientist position is a Full-Time, Night Shift role requiring 30 hours per week, working Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 21:30 to 08:00. The role is located at Texas Health Alliance in Fort Worth, TX. The Laboratory Department is crucial as 70.25% of all hospital decisions are based on lab results. The scientist will work as a generalist, rotating through different departments in a small, collaborative unit that emphasizes teamwork and patient care. The department operates with a lean six sigma culture, focusing on innovation, mindfulness, collaboration, agility, and vibrancy.

Requirements

  • Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program required
  • MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist within 90 Days required Or MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist within 90 Days required Or Other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology Upon Hire required Or M(ASCP) - Microbiology if working in Microbiology Upon Hire Req Or BB (ASCP) - Blood Banking if working in Blood Bank Upon Hire Req

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred.
  • Individuals hired as a CLS II prior to January 3, 2010, will be grandfathered to the MLS position with existing education.
  • Degree may be obtained within 3 months of hire Required
  • 2 Years experience in a Medical Laboratory preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate workflow process
  • Complete patient laboratory testing including CLIA waived, moderately complex and highly complex testing
  • Collaborate with nursing and physicians
  • Ensure specimen integrity and laboratory operations
  • Work in a manner that focuses on professionalism and safety
  • Check outstanding tests list in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot and follow through on outstanding tests which appear to have not been collected/received when expected
  • Utilize time between testing to accomplish other needed tasks (evaluation of kits, preparing controls, supply management, housekeeping duties, etc.)
  • Follow established laboratory test procedures, including using proper computer protocol
