About The Position

This Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) role supports the labs at Superior, Moose Lake, and Sandstone Hospitals. The position involves performing and reporting tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages. These tests assist in the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries. The MLS will interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge, demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills, and participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Control monitoring, and instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting. Duties may include phlebotomy and specimen processing, and participation in research, development, education, and technical consultation.

Requirements

Graduate of a four-year degree program in an accredited school of clinical laboratory science, or equivalent discipline.
Meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP), Medical Technologist (ASCP), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (NCA) or equivalent is required within one year from the date of hire.

Responsibilities

Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring.

Participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation.
