About The Position

The Staff Medical Technologist performs clinical tests in one or more areas of specialization, depending on the size and scope of laboratory activity. The role performs testing across laboratory departments to obtain data used in diagnosing and treating disease, evaluates results, supports quality control, maintains records, and helps train students and new employees. The position may also assume senior or chief technologist duties as needed and participates in laboratory coverage on a shift basis and/or on call.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in a related biological, chemical, or physical science.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) by a nationally recognized certifying agency.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, quality control practices, and laboratory safety standards.
Ability to perform complex laboratory testing with accuracy and precision.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

Perform tests in all laboratory departments to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Perform technician duties and, as required, assume duties of Senior Medical Technologists and/or the Chief.
Evaluate results of various procedures.
Troubleshoot equipment after advising the supervisor of the problem.
Participate in the department's quality control program.
Maintain appropriate records and perform related clerical duties.
Assist in training students and/or new employees.
In the absence of the immediate supervisor, notify physicians of abnormal test results.
Participate in the employee evaluation process.
Participate in total laboratory coverage on a shift basis and/or on call.
Perform other duties as assigned.
