About The Position

Under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor and Shift Supervisor, the Medical Laboratory Scientist performs laboratory tests to obtain data used in diagnosing and treating disease. The employee follows all hospital and laboratory policies, guidelines, procedures, and protocols, and may assume charge duties in the absence of a supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a health science program or medical laboratory science, or a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in lieu of the degree.
• Current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) license under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute: 61F-5, or obtain the license within 90 days of hire.
• Limited scope of practice applies until licensure is obtained; results entry will not be performed during that period.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications and office systems.
• Qualification as an ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent medical laboratory scientist.
