Medical Laboratory Scientist - Lab Customer Service
About The Position
Under general supervision, the Medical Laboratory Scientist works in a customer-service-focused laboratory role with varied responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The position serves as a bridge between customers and the laboratory, supporting problem resolution, accurate order processing, client communication, shipment tracking, critical lab value handling, and coordination of specialized testing approvals. The role involves collaboration with sales teams, pathologists, and outreach business partners, as well as working with laboratory systems including Sunquest, Copath, CRM, and ATLAS. The position is a day shift role scheduled for 40 hours per week. A sign-on bonus is available.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with coursework aligned to the duties of the specific Medical Laboratory discipline and meeting the ASCP eligibility routes for Medical Laboratory Scientist; alternatively, the candidate must hold a categorical scientist-level certification as BB, C, CG, CT, M, or MB, or have met AAB and/or AMT certification requirements.
- At least six months of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
- Technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions.
Nice To Haves
- Certification at the technologist or medical/clinical laboratory scientist level from a nationally recognized agency, such as ASCP, AMT, ASM, AAB, AABB, ACS, or HEW.
Responsibilities
- Field phone calls, diagnose issues, and troubleshoot problems in coordination with other departments.
- Process orders accurately and maintain communication with clients.
- Track shipments and manage critical laboratory values.
- Collaborate with sales teams, pathologists, and outreach business partners to facilitate specialized testing approvals and expand laboratory capabilities.
- Use laboratory systems including Sunquest, Copath, CRM, and ATLAS.
- Serve as a liaison between customers and the laboratory, ensuring customer interactions add value and strengthen relationships.
