About The Position

The Medical Technologist is a clinical laboratory professional accountable for performing laboratory testing that supports patient care and diagnosis. The role requires technical expertise, accurate and reliable testing, timely documentation, and ongoing knowledge of laboratory policies, specimen collection, procedures, and instrumentation. The position is career-ladder eligible and contributes to training, education, performance improvement, and laboratory operations.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree, per CLIA 88 requirements.
Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist certification through ASCP or AMT, HEW certification, or eligibility for certification.
Regular and reliable attendance.

Nice To Haves

New graduates eligible for ASCP certification should complete their registry within six months.
MLT (ASCP) bridge candidates should complete their registry within one year.

Responsibilities

Promote the vision and mission of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Acquire and update knowledge of laboratory policies, specimen collection, test procedures, and instrumentation.
Perform accurate and reliable testing in applicable laboratory areas.
Perform patient, quality control, proficiency, and quality assurance testing, including required documentation, accurately and on time.
Assist with inventory control and research and development of new tests.
Participate in training and mentoring new employees and in hospital or departmental committees.
Take an active role in education and performance improvement activities.
