About The Position

Mountain West Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join their team. This role is vital to the laboratory's operations and patient care. The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform a wide range of manual and automated laboratory tests, maintain equipment, ensure quality control, and utilize critical thinking for troubleshooting. This position requires the ability to work independently in a hospital setting, adhere to attendance policies, and manage stressful situations effectively.

Requirements

• Generalist skills including Blood Bank.
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/MLS with ASCP certification as an MT or MLS.
• CPR/BLS Certification required 30 days after employment.

Nice To Haves

• Associate Degree MLT(ASCP) will be considered.
• 1 year experience preferred (2 years for MLT); new MT/MLS grads considered.

Responsibilities

• Operates as a generalist performing manual and automated laboratory testing including hematology, chemistry, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, immunology/serology, and microbiology.
• Maintains and documents functioning of laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Performs and documents quality control according to policies and procedures.
• Uses critical thinking skills to ensure efficiency and assist with troubleshooting.
• Is an integral part of the patient care team.
• Ability to work independently in a hospital setting.
• Must be able to adhere to the attendance policy and have good attendance history.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to handle stressful situations is required for this position.
