About The Position

This role involves performing high and moderate complexity testing in a core laboratory setting, following established policies and procedures. The position requires pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory support functions and emphasizes clear communication among team members to optimize laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; Requirement specific in CLIA '88 to perform high complexity testing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in other field
  • Associate's Degree in clinical laboratory science and certification by ASCP or equivalent

  • Initiates, solves problems, and troubleshoots issues independently.
  • Works in multiple laboratory sections/disciplines independently (3 or more).
  • Displays ability to effectively train students and new team members
  • Good understanding of laboratory operations

  • 2+ years Experience in a highly complex laboratory setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently performs pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical processes for laboratory testing.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Performs and evaluates all required quality control assessments as described in departmental policies and procedures prior to reporting patient results.
  • Evaluates results of laboratory tests according to laboratory protocols to ensure quality patient care.
  • Documents all laboratory activities according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and demonstrates competency assessment in assigned area.
  • Takes responsibility for self-development.
  • Completes all assigned mandatory assignments within allowed timelines.
  • Is active participant in departmental projects.
  • Collaborates with the laboratory supervisor to ensure laboratory compliance with all regulatory agencies by established standards.
  • Trains students and new team members, and is a resource for other technical team members.
  • Assesses competency of team members as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
