About The Position

Join our lab team in providing exceptional patient care and gain valuable medical skills while playing a critical part in our patients’ diagnoses. This is a generalist position covering all departments including core lab, microbiology, blood bank, and phlebotomy. The role involves working 8-hour shifts that vary between day, evening, and night, with every 3rd weekend coverage from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm in microbiology. The position is eligible for a Float premium pay.

Requirements

MLS: Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, valid driver’s license may be required.
MLT: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible.

Responsibilities

Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.
Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met.
Collect laboratory specimens, as needed.
Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving.
