About The Position

The Elliot Hospital Laboratory is a full service 24/7 operation, accredited by CAP and AABB. It supports a Level II trauma center, Level III NICU, High Risk Maternity unit, three urgent cares, two cancer centers, a community health center, and approximately 60 nursing and assisted living facilities, with a yearly billable volume of about 1.6 million tests. The Blood bank also serves as an American Red Cross Blood depot for New Hampshire. Medical Technologists are integral to the healthcare team, working with patients, providers, and Pathologists to determine clinical outcomes. The technical departments are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, including molecular microbiology, Rotem coagulation technology, a full chemistry line with refrigeration, and up-to-date histology and cytology departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Science or related field OR an equivalent combination of experience and education required. Individuals have up to two years from date of hire to complete degree requirement.
• Exam eligibility required.

Nice To Haves

• One-year experience as a Medical Technologist preferred.
• Experience in phlebotomy and specimen collection preferred.
• Certification as an Medical Technologist (MT) or MLS strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and precisely perform laboratory tests and maintain the integrity of samples throughout the process.
• Notify appropriate clinical personnel in the event of critical or life-threatening results.
• Maintain records and documentation.
• Resolve and document procedural problems encountered in the daily workload.
