About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Senior role at Evanston Hospital is a full-time position responsible for solving technical and interdepartmental problems within various laboratory areas. The individual will be capable of identifying issues that may affect test performance or reporting, taking corrective action, and notifying appropriate personnel. This role requires effective communication, strong organizational skills, the ability to work cooperatively with others, proven initiative, and above-average job performance. The MLS Senior is expected to assume additional technical or administrative responsibilities and work independently and efficiently with a high degree of organization and attention to detail, closely collaborating with the Technical Specialist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate's degree and the requisite courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing.
  • MT, MLS or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
  • Two (2) years of experience at the Lab Associate level at NorthShore or for an external candidate, four (4) years’ experiences in a healthcare setting of comparable complexity.
  • MLT: Six (6) years of experience in a healthcare setting of comparable complexity.

Nice To Haves

  • Ongoing active certification is strongly preferred.
  • Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and organization skills.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a highly organized manner with particular attention to detail.
  • Work closely with Technical Specialist.
