Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician
About The Position
CoxHealth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician to perform tests on blood and body fluids to determine the presence or absence of disease, monitor response to treatment, and aid in health maintenance. The Medical Laboratory Scientist will serve as a technical resource for lesser credentialed staff, assist in training, troubleshoot instrument issues, and recognize the need for service. They will use critical thinking and clinical knowledge to assess questionable results and correlate with clinical information to determine accuracy. The Laboratory Technician will perform tests on blood and body fluids and identify and interpret test results, reporting them to the appropriate clinician, with assistance from Medical Technologists/Medical Laboratory Scientists. Requirements
- Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist Education Required: Bachelor's Degree must be obtained within 90 days OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND Grandfathered status under CLIA Regulations
- Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist from either American Medical Technology (AMT), American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or American Society of Clinical Pathologist – International (ASCPi).
- Medical Laboratory Technician Education Required: Associates Degree OR completion of an accredited MLT Program
- Medical Laboratory Technician Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Certified as a Medical Lab Technician from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency or eligible to sit for exam at time of hire; must obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management.
- Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft programs; high level proficiency in Excel.
Nice To Haves
- Medical Laboratory Scientist Preferred: Completion of a medical technology program
- Medical Laboratory Technician Preferred: 1 Year experience in a laboratory
- Knowledge of current information technology and an ability to lead project teams to accomplish automation projects of large size and complexity.
Responsibilities
