About The Position

Trinity Health Shelby is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our laboratory team. Qualified Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) will also be considered based on experience, certification, and organizational policy. This part-time role involves a rotating shift and is responsible for the safe and accurate processing of laboratory specimens and reporting of results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and performing quality control in the clinical laboratory. The position also includes specifically designated lead tech responsibilities.

Requirements

• MLS (ASCP) certification or MLT (ASCP) certification
• Associates/Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology.
• National Licensure as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician - ASCP, AMT
• Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• Additionally languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens, clarifies test requests, checks specimen integrity/labeling.
• Organizes, prepares and processes specimens.
• Works independently in assigned departments within the laboratory.
• Performs testing, evaluates results, solves problems, documents results and communicates reports as needed.
• Assists in training and orientation of new employees and students.
• Performs specimen collection duties.
