About The Position

Under the supervision of Medical Laboratory Scientists, the Medical Laboratory Scientist Intern provides timely and courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff by performing laboratory analyses accurately and efficiently and meeting the stated performance standards. The position is based at Baptist Medical Center South and is listed as PRN, with a first shift.

Requirements

• Must be accepted into the Baptist Medical Center South School of Medical Laboratory Science program, be a senior Medical Laboratory Science student recommended by the AUM Medical Laboratory Science Program Director for a six-month clinical internship, or be a Medical Laboratory Technician student recommended by the Jefferson State Community College Program Director for a six-month clinical internship.
• Must meet CLIA personnel testing qualifications before performing high-complexity testing.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
• Strong team leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to develop trust with organizational leaders.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and proficient computer skills.
• Proven track record of successful performance.
• Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and develop appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
