About The Position

Under the supervision of Medical Laboratory Scientists, the Medical Laboratory Scientist Intern provides timely and courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff. The intern performs laboratory analyses accurately and efficiently and meets the applicable performance standards. The position is based at Baptist Medical Center East and is listed as PRN on the first shift.

Requirements

• Be accepted into the Baptist Medical Center South School of Medical Laboratory Science program; or be a senior Medical Laboratory Science student recommended by the AUM Medical Laboratory Science Program Director for a six-month clinical internship; or be a Medical Laboratory Technician student recommended by the Jefferson State Community College Program Director for a six-month clinical internship.
• Have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
• Demonstrate strong team leadership, organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
• Be able to meet strict deadlines and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Have strong analytical and problem-solving ability and excellent organizational skills.
• Be able to develop trust with organizational leaders.
• Have strong written and oral communication skills and proficient computer skills, with a proven track record of successful performance.
• Be able to understand complex multifactor situations and develop appropriate solutions.
• Be able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Meet CLIA personnel testing qualifications before performing high-complexity testing.
