About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join their Core Lab team at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. This is a part-time position. The ideal candidate will be trained in chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, hematology, and some serology. They will work with Beckman Instruments and an automation line for chemistry, hematology, and coagulation instruments. The role involves close collaboration with a team of 7-8 Medical Technologists and four Specimen Processors. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II will be responsible for technical functions, specimen collection/processing, LIS, general department, and clerical duties within the laboratory. They are expected to maintain performance records as per SOP manuals and can perform responsibilities without on-site supervision. This role may also involve supervising MLTs as a General Supervisor and acting as Charge Technologist in the absence of other supervisors or MTs. Additionally, the position may include instructing new employees and students. The position is located in the Core Lab at Baptist Downtown.

Requirements

  • 2 years Medical Technologist Experience
  • Associate's Degree Required
  • Must be licensed as a Medical Technologist in the State of Florida and in the areas of Chemistry and Hematology.
  • Candidates licensed prior to 1997 are not required to have certification per the State of Florida Licensure Rules.
