About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist for their Core Lab. Since opening in 2015 as North America’s first fully digital hospital, Humber River Health has been dedicated to transforming healthcare through technology and clinical expertise. Humber River Health utilizes a unique combination of technology and clinical expertise to improve patient care, reduce inefficiencies, and minimize errors. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen’s University, aiming to become a community academic hospital. Their Laboratory Services Department employs state-of-the-art equipment, technology, and processes for collecting and testing clinical specimens to aid in patient diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Medical Laboratory Technologists play a crucial role by performing tests on tissue, blood, and other body fluids to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Current registration as General Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively alone or with all team members, including co-workers, physicians and other health care team members.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of recent Clinical Laboratory experience an asset
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset. Humber River Health values lived and learned experiences in addressing systemic barriers and advancing inclusive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Routine & Stat Laboratory Testing in Core Laboratory- Chemistry, Hematology and Blood bank.
  • Duties may include phlebotomy, central processing and other related duties as assigned.
  • Can be assigned /trained in other Laboratory Disciplines
