About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its chemistry laboratory in Royal Oak, Michigan. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with rotational weekend work. The employee performs laboratory testing and related tasks in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. A shift differential may be available for some or all hours worked on third shift; further details are provided if an offer is extended.

Requirements

• Qualify through one of the listed education pathways: a BS in Medical Technology (preferred); a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Nice To Haves

• One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.
• A BS in Medical Technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
• Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
