About The Position

This role involves providing instruction and supervision in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) courses. The instructor will be responsible for grading and assessing the competency of MLS students to ensure they become competent entry-level practitioners. The position also assists in administering MLS program rules, regulations, and policies in compliance with current accreditation standards. The instructor will demonstrate knowledge of clinical education content for a bachelor’s degree medical laboratory science program and collaborate with program faculty in reviewing, assessing, and revising course materials as needed. This position reports to the Academic Dean and/or the Program Chair.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree
  • Two (2) years of related work experience and/or clinical experience as a medical laboratory scientist and/or science educator.
  • Current licensure/certification, board certification registration or license to practice in the State of Tennessee as appropriate to professional practice areas and ASCP BOC or ASCPi BOC generalist certification as a medical laboratory scientist.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in related discipline or appropriate discipline for college teaching/administration
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
