About The Position

Primary responsibilities include: providing classroom and lab instruction in the medical laboratory science program; maintaining regularly posted office hours at times convenient for students; participating in program meetings; and developing and maintaining skills in a variety of teaching/learning methodologies, including online course instruction. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan by the first day of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2026 at the earliest and January 2027 at the latest.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a clinical lab
  • Certification as MLS (ASCP) or NCA (CLS)
  • Must reside in Michigan by the first day of employment
  • Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience teaching immunohematology in an accredited MLS program
  • Master's degree in MLS or related field

  • Adhere to policies of the college and university
  • Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to promote and improve programs
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws
  • Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically
  • Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives
  • Any other duties assigned within the position classification area
