Patient's Choice Laboratories is looking for a motivated and professional Medical Laboratory Admin Assistant to join their Tempe, Arizona team. In this role, the individual will be an important part of daily operations, providing support to patients, healthcare providers, and clinical teams. They will use their communication, problem-solving, and technical skills to manage a high volume of inquiries while delivering professional and compassionate service. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, eager to learn, and interested in growing within the healthcare field. They should be a strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and a passion for helping others.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree required.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • At least 1 year of experience using medical terminology.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to work comfortably across multiple software platforms.
  • Ability to type at least 40 WPM while actively speaking with a caller.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn and retain complex medical and laboratory information.
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional, empathetic, and positive approach to customer service.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Biomedical Science or a related field preferred.
  • Call center experience is a strong plus.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, healthcare, medical office, or related environment is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for incoming patient and provider inquiries and manage inbound calls with a focus on data entry.
  • Assist with laboratory-related questions, order status updates, specimen requirements, and general account inquiries.
  • Use various software platforms, databases, and internal resources simultaneously to research and resolve questions efficiently.
  • Accurately record calls, inquiries, resolutions, and other important information in company systems.
  • Work closely with internal departments to resolve issues and ensure timely communication and follow-up.
  • Recognize complex or sensitive issues and appropriately escalate them to management or the appropriate department.
  • Maintain patient and company confidentiality while following HIPAA requirements, healthcare regulations, and company policies.
  • Support daily operational needs and assist with additional responsibilities as assigned.
