The Medical Lab Technologist is responsible for programming and processing laboratory equipment according to department policies and manufacturer safety guidelines. This role involves detecting and investigating spurious or abnormal results, resolving instrument codes to ensure accurate patient test results, and maintaining competency in all assigned laboratory areas. The technologist must also demonstrate proper documentation of quality control, corrective actions, maintenance procedures, and critical values, as well as correctly ordering reflex or add-on tests and utilizing appropriate patient forms. A key aspect of the role is monitoring pending test reports to ensure accurate processing and verification of ordered tests.
