About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Seattle, WA. This role involves supporting both Cherry Hill and Ballard laboratory locations. The work schedule is 7 on 7 off, from Thursday to Wednesday, 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM. The position requires determining the acceptability of specimens, performing routine and complex technical procedures, and monitoring/operating instrumentation. The technologist will also be responsible for preparing and testing new reagents, reporting accurate patient care results, performing maintenance and quality control, and managing testing bench supplies. Specimen processing assistance, maintaining a safe work environment, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Medical Technology
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to provide coverage at both Cherry Hill and Ballard laboratory based on operational and patient care needs
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
