Medical Lab Technician - Deaconess Emergency & Urgent Care
About The Position
Deaconess Health System is opening a new combined Emergency and Urgent Care facility in Southern Indiana. This hybrid facility aims to provide a seamless, patient-centered approach to care. The Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MLT) will perform complex diagnostic testing across multiple laboratory disciplines. This role is suited for experienced lab professionals with strong technical expertise, a focus on quality, and the ability to work independently. The position involves performing moderate- to high-complexity testing in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood bank, contributing to accurate and timely results for clinical decisions. It offers hands-on experience with advanced laboratory technology, including operating and troubleshooting analyzers, validating quality control, and maintaining equipment. The role also includes reviewing and verifying test results, ensuring quality standards, managing specimen integrity, supporting blood product preparation, maintaining compliance and documentation, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- ASCP Certification (MLS or MLT) – required (or obtained within 3 years) and maintained during employment
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field

- 2–3+ years of clinical laboratory experience
