About The Position

Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Ensures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department’s policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements. Responsible for routine clerical duties including data entry/ordering tests, diagnosis entry, retrieval of results, charting and faxing results as needed. Demonstrates competence in care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Maintains the Mission and Values of the Crossroads Community Hospital. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited medical laboratory technician program or associate's degree and a least 60 semester hours from an accredited university including biology and chemistry and three years full time clinical laboratory experience or successful completion of equivalent training program.
  • Must possess current card from the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers (required within one month of employment).
  • Obtain and maintain drug screen collection and breath alcohol certification

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years' experience preferred.
  • Registration as a Medical Lab Technician, MLT (ASCP), MLT(AMT), HEW, or CLS (NCA) or equivalent preferred.
