About The Position

This is a part-time temporary position supporting the RISE-NE research study. The primary need is reliable phlebotomy coverage for participant study visits. Approximately 15 hours per week are anticipated, although scheduling may vary depending on participant appointments and study needs. Study-specific orientation and training will be provided prior to beginning participant-facing activities.

Requirements

  • Strong venipuncture/phlebotomy skills
  • Experience safely collecting and handling blood specimens
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols and documentation procedures
  • Comfortable working directly with research participants
  • Able to communicate well with participants and research staff
  • Reliable, professional, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Able to work independently while following established study procedures
  • At least 1 year of relevant phlebotomy/venipuncture experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of a phlebotomy training/certification program

Nice To Haves

  • Previous research or clinical research experience
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Experience working with diverse patient/participant populations
  • Familiarity with biospecimen processing and research specimen workflows
  • Spanish language skills are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Collecting blood and other biological samples from research participants
  • Labeling, processing, and storing biological samples within the laboratory
  • Conducting some assays within the laboratory, ship some samples to external laboratories for assays, and transport some samples to local biological repositories for long-term storage
  • May support participant recruitment, screen potential participants for study eligibility, and facilitate the informed consent process in accordance with approved study protocols
  • Handle privileged information
  • Work directly, in person, with individuals participating in research studies investigating the relationships between substance use and disease risk.
