About The Position

This position involves performing routine laboratory duties, including obtaining blood samples, conducting tests and procedures, managing quality control, operating computer systems for ordering and data retrieval, performing instrument maintenance, and assisting with clerical tasks. The role also contributes to the overall safety and cleanliness of the laboratory. Responsibilities may extend to phlebotomy, specimen processing, and participation in research, development, education, and technical consultation. The position must adhere to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for laboratory testing complexity.

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT): Graduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician OR Meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route.
Medical Technologist (MT), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS): Graduate of a four-year degree program in an accredited school of clinical laboratory science, or equivalent discipline.
Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT) or National Credentialing Agency (NCA) or equivalent is required within one year of hire (for MLT).
Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP), Medical Technologist (ASCP), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (NCA) or equivalent is required within one year from the date of hire (for MT, CLS, MLS).

Responsibilities

Perform routine duties in the laboratory.
Obtain blood samples.
Perform tests and/or procedures as requested.
Perform, record, and troubleshoot quality control.
Operate computer systems, including ordering, resulting, and retrieving data.
Perform routine instrument maintenance.
Assist with clerical work as needed.
Assist with the overall safety and cleanliness of the laboratory.
May be required to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing duties.
Participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation.
