About The Position

This is a full-time, first shift position with rotating weekends and holidays in the Laboratory department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of patient laboratory test results, maintaining quality control and assurance procedures, and ensuring safety and compliance. The position also involves maintaining appropriate education and certifications, ensuring efficient department operations, and adhering to hospital standards to foster a cooperative work environment.

Requirements

  • MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Technical ability and interest.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Lab Technician preferred.
  • Computer and keyboard skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient laboratory test results.
  • Ensures quality of test results by following defined Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.
  • Ensures safety and compliance.
  • Maintains appropriate education to accomplish work objectives and maintain current certifications as applicable.
  • Ensures productive and efficient operations of the section and department.
  • Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
