Medical Lab Technician/Medical Technologist - Microbiology
About The Position
The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) is responsible for accurately processing, analyzing, and reporting laboratory results in a timely manner with minimal supervision, while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. The MLT comprehends and follows procedural guidelines in performance of laboratory tests, including quality control monitoring, computer applications, instrumentation troubleshooting, and specimen collection and processing requirements. The Medical Technologist (MT) exercises professional judgment in the performance and interpretation of laboratory tests, following established procedures, maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards. The MT can assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor and is capable of performing and interpreting standard, complex, and specialized tests. The MT has an understanding of quality assurance sufficient to implement and monitor quality control programs.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program (for MLT).
- ACT 169 clearance (for MLT).
- Certification by A.S.C.P. within 6 months from date of hire (for MLT) OR possess a H.E.W. certification with 5 years of full-time clinical laboratory experience OR Already functioning as an MLT within SVH or TMC (Grandfathered) as off June 2002.
- MT (ASCP) certified or hold a BS degree from an accredited and associated certification program and obtain A.S.C.P. certification within 6 months from date of hire (for MT) OR Already functioning as an MT within HVS or HVB (Grandfathered) as of June 2002 OR Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) through HEW and has experience as a CLT for a minimum of 20 years.
- Successful completion of Acts 73 and/or 169 clearances within 90 days of commencing employment, if applicable.
