About The Position
The Staff Medical Technologist performs clinical tests in one or more areas of specialization depending on the size and scope of laboratory activity.
Requirements
- Clinical tests in one or more areas of specialization
- Perform tests in all lab departments
- Perform all duties of technician
- Evaluate results of various procedures
- Perform troubleshooting procedures on equipment
- Participate in quality control program
- Maintain appropriate records and perform clerical duties
- Assist in training students and/or new employees
- Notify physician of abnormal test results
- Participate in employee evaluation process
- Participate in total lab coverage
Responsibilities
- Performs tests in all lab departments to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Performs all duties of technician and may assume duties of Senior Medical Technologists and/or Chief as required.
- Evaluates results of various procedures.
- Performs troubleshooting procedures on equipment after advising supervisor of problem.
- Participates in quality control program in the department.
- Maintains appropriate records and performs clerical duties associated with respective department.
- Assists in training students and/or new employees.
- In the absence of immediate supervisor, notifies physician of abnormal test results.
- Participates in employee evaluation process.
- Participates in total lab coverage either on shift basis and/or on call.
- Performs other duties as assigned
