About The Position

The Medical Lab Scientist performs tests related to patient diagnosis and treatment using various clinical laboratory procedures. The role correlates and integrates other patient data when interpreting results and applies professional judgment and in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control, and instrument maintenance. The scientist recognizes problems, identifies causes, and determines alternative methods and solutions. Visa sponsorship is not available. The position is based at Eagle Health Plaza and offers a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. A bachelor's degree is required, as is MT, MLS, CLS, or equivalent ASCP certification, or registry eligibility with certification obtained within one year of hire.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
MT, MLS, CLS, or equivalent certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required, or registry eligibility with certification obtained within one year of hire.
Knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control, and instrument maintenance.
Ability to recognize problems, identify causes, and determine alternative methods and solutions.

Responsibilities

Performs, records, and reviews scheduled quality control; takes immediate corrective action when QC data is outside established limits.
Verifies specimen labeling, integrity, and suitability before testing.
Accurately performs low-, medium-, and high-complexity testing according to established protocols and regulatory requirements.
Reports test results accurately and appropriately.
Reports critical test results to physicians, nursing stations, or physician offices according to established protocol.
Performs phlebotomy when needed according to laboratory policies and procedures.
Monitors supply inventory and takes appropriate action to ensure needed supplies are readily available.
