About The Position

St. Luke's Health System is hiring a part-time Medical Lab Scientist for the Laboratory team at St. Luke's Fruitland Hospital. The role performs routine and moderately complex clinical laboratory testing to support the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. It requires sound judgment, critical thinking, and flexibility while working within established processes and departmental procedures. The scientist may also serve as a resource for less-experienced team members.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a scientific-related field.
No prior experience required.
Must hold one of the following certifications: Blood Banking (ASCP_BB); Chemistry (ASCP_C); Cytogenetics (CYGT); Hematology (ASCP_H); Microbiology (ASCP_M); Molecular Biology (ASCP_MB); Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP_MLS or AMT_MLS); or Medical Technologist (ASCP_MT or AMT_MT).

Responsibilities

Perform tests on specimens accurately and in an organized, prioritized manner, following laboratory procedures and policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Collect specimens as required by section needs, with skill and sensitivity to patient needs.
Ensure specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled, and stored.
Perform instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
Independently perform routine or more complex quality control, linearity, calibration, and delta checks on laboratory equipment.
Serve as a resource for team members on advanced tasks, complex questions, or patient concerns.
Maintain inventory of supplies.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Follow department policy for required records and documentation.
Ensure input is accurate and complete.
Perform other duties as assigned.
