About The Position

The Medical Lab Scientist works in the Blood Bank department at Trinity Health Ann Arbor. This is a full-time, 32-hour-per-week position on the day shift. The role involves entering and recording laboratory test results, reviewing results for unusual or highly abnormal findings, communicating urgent or unexpected results, and comparing results with previous patient results when indicated. Candidates need a relevant bachelor’s degree or, in some cases, a science bachelor’s degree combined with relevant laboratory experience. Requirements

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
A bachelor’s degree in science may be considered when combined with relevant work experience in a comparable laboratory setting.
Submit proof of educational transcripts at the time of application.
Relevant work experience in a medical laboratory is required if an MLS/MT degree has not been obtained.
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice To Haves

Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – ASCP, or NCLS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Record and/or enter laboratory computer results for tests performed.
Advise the supervisor of spurious, unusual, or highly abnormal results before releasing results for reporting.
Report stat test results and highly abnormal or unexpected results in a timely manner and according to established policies and procedures.
Compare test results with previous patient test results when indicated.
