About The Position
Medical Laboratory Scientists are responsible for testing patient specimens, ensuring accuracy of test, and communicating results to providers. This position has much interaction with nursing staff and other hospital departments. This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures and minimal exposure to cleaning, staining, and testing chemicals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or Clinical Lab
- Understand and can articulate correct procedures to accurately identify patients, label specimens, and verify there is adequate sampling for the testing ordered
- Proficient use of computer peripherals
- Clear communicator; Speak, read, and write English fluently
Responsibilities
- Prepare specimens for testing
- Test patient specimens, establishing and ensuring acceptable levels of QC are maintained
- Responsible for ensuring requirements of the CAP, AABB, DNV, and FDA (as applicable to section/shift) are followed and in compliance
- Ensure equipment is operational by performing equipment maintenance, calibrating, and troubleshooting
- All other duties assigned related to the medical laboratory
