The PRN (on-call/at need) MLS performs patient specimen analysis and phlebotomy for diagnostic purposes. Under the supervision of a medical technologist, performs procedures in: hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, molecular diagnostics and blood bank. Enters results into and reviews interfaced results in the computer system and notifies medical technologist and health care provider of panic values. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment and appropriate utilization of lab supplies. Follows laboratory policies and procedures. William Newton Hospital’s Standards of Behavior allow a mechanism for holding each employee accountable and encourages us to "raise the bar". All employees are expected to familiarize themselves with the Standards and practice them daily.
