Medical Lab Scientist II (MLS)
About The Position
The Medical Technologist II Generalist performs routine and complex laboratory analyses and procedures on blood, body fluids and exudates from patients following established protocols and procedures. Clinical laboratory testing plays a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease. As the Medical Technologist acquires expertise in the performance of test procedures, he/she will also accept responsibility and accountability of being in charge in the absence of the supervisor. The MT II must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to interact with various ages of clients served in the course and scope of his/her job duties. These age populations may include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. This position may require direct patient care. However, in the course and scope of the regular job duties, this individual may be required to interface with patients, family members and the public at-large. Assessment of the skills necessary to communicate with various age populations is addressed on the corresponding competency assessment.
