About The Position

Loyola Medical Center is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist for their Blood Bank department. This full-time, evening shift position involves performing waived, moderate, and high complexity laboratory testing utilized in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The role supports patient care by conducting tests, ensuring quality control, and maintaining accurate records in a new, state-of-the-art Regional Clinical Laboratory.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree/associate degree - Medical Laboratory Science Program
Specific Degree(s): Medical Technology, Medical Technician, Medical Laboratory Science
Laboratory certification required (ASCP or HEW)
Experience with waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in a "clinical" laboratory setting through education or work experience required

Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) or equivalent

Responsibilities

Performs all laboratory testing, including the pre-examination phase in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation guidelines to support the delivery of patient care.
Conducts and documents established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products.
Evaluates the results of quality control testing and implements corrective action according to established protocols to ensure the accuracy and quality of patient testing.
