Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in healthcare billing or a related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of insurance rules and regulations
  • Experience with 10-key
  • Word processing and spreadsheet skills, such as Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, and collections
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner under busy and stressful circumstances

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all billing activities comply with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and other applicable laws
  • Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims to various payers
  • Generate and send patient bills
  • Ensure charges are correct and supported by accurate documentation
  • Record payments received by patients and insurance companies
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records and documentation
  • Ensure all phones are answered following PHMG customer service standards
  • Handle patient disputes regarding claim resolution
  • Manage all payer correspondence and supply requested information
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings as assigned by supervisors
  • Perform other duties as assigned
