About The Position

The Medical Information Specialist is responsible for ensuring the provision of accurate, factual, balanced, high-quality Medical Information (MI) for Boehringer products in response to requests from healthcare professionals and patients, and internal colleagues. This role involves mentoring and training the Medical Information team, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring the achievement of individual business objectives. The specialist will support the implementation of the global strategy of MI and localize strategic imperatives to leverage Medical Information for a competitive business advantage. They will partner with Global Medical Information and other R/OPUs to identify new channels for disseminating medical information for increased impact and efficiency. Additionally, the role includes managing the external, stakeholder-facing Medical Information website, ensuring standard response documents are accessible, and participating in the Medical Legal Review (MLR) of material regarding BI's products and disease states for medical and scientific accuracy. The specialist will also report Adverse Events (AEs) and Product Complaints that arise from Medical Information interactions within required timelines. This is an existing vacant position.

Requirements

  • Post Secondary degree, preferably in Pharmacy or Life Sciences
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, strategic thinking, people development, analysis and innovation
  • Extensive clinical/therapeutic background; understanding of research methodology; critical assessment skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills to effectively communicate scientific/medical information to healthcare professionals, consumers, and internal business partners
  • Strong interdependent partnering ability including negotiating/influencing skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, dynamic and professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handling and implementation of tasks related to the Medical Information team, to ensure the provision of accurate, factual, balanced, high quality Medical Information for BI products to healthcare professionals, patients, as well as internal colleagues
  • Mentorship and training to the other members of the Medical Information team including the Intern. Ensure sufficient back-up to perform all Medical Information functions during absences
  • Develop local strategies with colleagues to identify opportunities to leverage Medical Information for a competitive business advantage
  • Partner with Global Medical Information colleagues to identify new channels to disseminate medical information for increased impact and efficiency
  • Manage the external, stakeholder-facing Medical Information website and ensure availability of standard response documents are accessible via the website, if warranted
  • Develop or adapt global standard response documents in correspondence with Canadian medical and regulatory context and ensure their availability on the external Medical Information website, if warranted
  • Participate in the Medical Legal Review (MLR) process to review dockets for compliance and medical accuracy
  • Report adverse events and Product Complaints that arise from Medical Information interactions within required timelines
  • Act as copyright champion
