The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Medical Information & Services Assistant (MISA) position at the Anchorage Central Office (ACO) located in Anchorage, Alaska. This position is responsible for scheduling and coordinating offsite medical care that has been deemed essential for an inmate in the care and custody of DOC. This includes reviewing the electronic health care record system for offsite referrals that need to be scheduled, communication with community medical providers, scheduling the needed care, communication of pre/post special instructions, as well as the coordination of the master centralized transportation calendar. This position requires organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, good communication skills, critical thinking to aid in understanding of the care needed, urgency and prioritization of tasks and the ability to collaborate within and outside of our system; especially with our transport team and facility staff (i.e. health practitioners, nurses and doctors).
