About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist, Journey for the Wildwood Correctional Center (WCC), located in Kenai, Alaska. This position is essential for the overall security of the facility, protection of the public, the well-being and safety of inmates who reside at WCC, as well as the employees who work at the facility by ensuring that systems and equipment operate in an acceptable manner. The position requires working in all areas of the facility and daily interaction with inmates.

Requirements

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, benefits, repair, operation, and maintenance.
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to identify, control, mitigate, and eliminate safety hazards in the design and use of facilities, equipment, operations, and work processes.
Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must pass a criminal history check.
Must be fingerprinted.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs to support the overall upkeep of facility infrastructure.
Carry out interior and exterior painting to preserve building appearance and durability.
Install, repair, and maintain structural components including doors, frames, windows, ceilings, and flooring.
Provide general plumbing and basic mechanical system maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical locks, electrical issues, and household or facility appliances.
